The wonderful Amanda Hesford with her daughters Claudia (6.5), Josephine (3.5) and Penelope (6 months). When Amanda had Claudia she had a very long labor and a large postpartum hemorrhage. She lost a lot of blood and required two liters to be transfused and emergency procedures. Alone on the operating table, she was told she would need a full hysterectomy and never be able to have any more children just hours after birthing her first. Thankfully, that didn't happen, but it took her a lot of time to recover from the experience. Before getting pregnant with Josephine, she found an obstetrician that reassured there the was nothing wrong with her body. She had a very healthy pregnancy and an amazing labor. She meditated through much of it, and the doctor walked in just as she was pushing. It completely changed her thoughts on birthing and was a welcome relieve. She had another healthy pregnancy and birth with Penelope. It was even quicker than the last, and the doctor did miss it this time! Amanda pretty much caught her baby herself. She's been able to have wonderful breastfeeding relationships with her younger two, another relief after she was unable to breastfeed successfully with Claudia. Amanda wants her daughters to have a healthy image of themselves and her as their mother.
